Do Not be Afraid

Life can sometimes be full of questions and uncertainty. Even in a culture where science has split the molecules of life down to the smallest particle, there are still questions, the unknown. Some see this as scary, some challenging or exciting, and some reassuring - that there is more to life, the universe and everything than can be immediately seen or understood.

When Jesus was telling His disciples that He would be leaving them, they were worried about how they would manage without Him. But Jesus gives them His peace and His Advocate, the Holy Spirit.

John 14: 25 - 27 (NIV)

25 ‘All this I have spoken while still with you. 26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

The peace that Jesus gives isn't like that which the world gives, transient and temporary, but a peace that endures even in the darkest situations. It is the knowledge of the Love of God in our lives and the faith we have to put Christ at the centre of our lives.

Putting Christ at the centre can be hard, but by doing so He helps to carry our worries, uncertainties and concerns - even when times are difficult, we will know that He is there with us. And this is a gift that our debt coaches and visit team can bring into the homes of every Ely and District CAP client, that they don't have to go through this alone but have the team to support them and the knowledge of the love of God to be with them for all their lives and situations.

Joshua 1:9 (NIVUK)

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.’

Prayer

Please pray for all those in our community who are struggling with poverty and debt. Pray for the courage to reach out and ask for help and for all those like the Ely and District CAP team who offer services and support.

Pray for all our clients, that they would have the knowledge of the love of God in their lives to give courage even in the most difficult situations.

Pray for our debt coaches who during March will be training on new systems to help streamline the process in the background between the work on the ground and the work at head office, working together to help each client with their individual journey out of debt. Pray especially for Kim as she starts her debt coach training alongside this.
