How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!

One of the things that sets Christians Against Poverty apart from other debt help organisations is that this mission is God inspired - prompted by the care of Jesus for the poor and suffering to aid those living with the burden of poverty and debt through practical debt and financial help and alongside that with a mission to bring the Good News of Jesus into their lives through love, care and support for the whole of life's journey.

The knowledge of the love of God in our lives is not something that we should keep to ourselves or share only with fellow believers, but something that we should shout out in the market place for all to hear.

Romans 10: 11 - 20 (NIV)

11 As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.” 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”

16 But not all the Israelites accepted the good news. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our message?” 17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ. 18 But I ask: Did they not hear? Of course they did:

“Their voice has gone out into all the earth,

their words to the ends of the world.”

19 Again I ask: Did Israel not understand? First, Moses says,

“I will make you envious by those who are not a nation;

I will make you angry by a nation that has no understanding.”

20 And Isaiah boldly says,

“I was found by those who did not seek me;

I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me.”

How do we hear the voice of God? The Israelites heard, but not all believed so God revealed Himself to those who did not seek Him through Jesus, a message of love for all people, inclusive and available to all. And we can help others to hear through acts of faith; prayer, care, love, support, listening, hearing, inviting - spiritual and practical acts of faith to care for both physical and spiritual senses. We may not see the result of these works, but they are an invitation into the support of the community of faith and the love of Christ that can be nurtured and grown by others working under the banner of Christ.

Prayer

Please pray for all our Ely and District CAP clients, especially for those who are hiding their problems from family and friends and struggling without this support, pray that the love of the CAP team can help them though this difficult time and invite them back into community.

Please pray for the team, for the love and support that they bring to our clients alongside the practicalities of the journey out of debt.

Please pray that we would be strengthened and inspired by Jesus' love for the poor, needy, marginalised and oppressed to be better able to share the resources that we have from God, whether material, spiritual, time or talents to help play our part in building His Kingdom.
