You Will Always Have Someone With You

For many of our Ely and District CAP clients, having someone walking alongside them in their time of trouble can make a huge difference, and knowing that those people are Christians can open up new ways of thinking and open a door into the knowledge of the love of God in their lives - just being a person of faith to someone, walking alongside them and showing care and compassion can be an introduction to the love of God.
In our modern society it can be hard to give up control, to put our lives and our cares and worries into the hands of God and even if we ask, to be prepared to do what He answers.
Jeremiah 42: 19 - 22 (MSG)
19-20 “God has plainly told you, you leftovers from Judah, ‘Don’t go to Egypt.’ Could anything be plainer? I warn you this day that you are living out a fantasy. You’re making a fatal mistake.
“Didn’t you just now send me to your God, saying, ‘Pray for us to our God. Tell us everything that God says and we’ll do it all’?
21-22 “Well, now I’ve told you, told you everything he said, and you haven’t obeyed a word of it, not a single word of what your God sent me to tell you. So now let me tell you what will happen next: You’ll be killed, you’ll starve to death, you’ll get sick and die in the wonderful country where you’ve determined to go and live.”
The Israelites asked for God's help and even though His message was clear and they had said that they would do whatever was needed, they still decided to go their own way, take what they saw as the easy path, rather than to have patience and trust in God's plan.
But in giving control to God, we can know the presence of the Holy Spirit within us and the presence of Jesus walking alongside us, we can know the truth of the path that God has for us even if we can't see how it will work, with a Friend with us all the way.
John 14: 15 - 17 (MSG)
15-17 “If you love me, show it by doing what I’ve told you. I will talk to the Father, and he’ll provide you another Friend so that you will always have someone with you. This Friend is the Spirit of Truth. The godless world can’t take him in because it doesn’t have eyes to see him, doesn’t know what to look for. But you know him already because he has been staying with you, and will even be in you!
This loving, compassionate companionship is not just for ourselves but a way to help others know God in their own lives - an unconditional, unrestricted love available to all however messy their lives or however burdened they feel by worries or guilt. For our Ely and District CAP debt coaches and visit team, to have a discussion with a client about 'Why does God allow evil in the world?' or to hear them say 'I would like to come to church but I'm not worthy' or ' I would like to know love like you have' are all ways to see the Spirit at work in their lives.

Prayer
Please pray for our Ely and District CAP clients that they would know the knowledge of God's love through the Ely and District CAP team and have strength from the Spirit to be able to put their burdens into God's hands and follow His path.
Pray for our debt coaches and visit team, for the visibility of God's love in their lives and work, for the inspiration and encouragement they can bring and for strength to face many different and difficult situations with love and patience.
Pray for the Support Hub team (the new name for CAP head office) as they become used to new structures and ways of working, that they can continue to provide care, support and knowledge for each individual client despite restructuring and team reductions.
