Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?

elycapdc

It can be easy to feel helpless when we see the suffering of the world through the news, or see those suffering in our own city, walking past those who are homeless and crossing to the other side to avoid those shouting their anger and despair at the world. We may feel that we lack the ability or the opportunity to help, or lack the courage to sit beside them, but Jesus has that courage and sits beside all those who are suffering.

God loved us so much that he did not space His own Son but gave Him up for our sins, for our lives. He gives freely and graciously of His unfailing and unending love and gives us the gift of life, the gift of life with Him both for the present and for the life to come.

Romans 8: 31 - 39 (NIV)

31 What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us a

ll things? 33 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. 34 Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36 As it is written:

“For your sake we face death all day long;

we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”

37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

We can celebrate that gift of life and love in the way we live our lives every day, however mundane or difficult they may be, walking with Jesus rather than in our own strength knowing that nothing can separate us from the love of God and sharing that love and life, the knowledge of the One who suffers for us and suffers with us, to those that we meet along the way.

We do not have to feel helpless in the face of suffering, even if we cannot help directly, we can pray. God has given all of us unique skills and abilities and we can pray to follow where He calls and to use those skills and abilities to His purpose. Sometimes what we can do doesn't feel like much, how can it make a difference? But even a smile at the right time can change someone's life for the better, Jesus can use the little things to make big things happen and we can all play a part in His plan.

Many of our Ely and District CAP clients have many burdens as well as debt, family breakdown, addiction, joblessness, physical and mental health issues and many more. The CAP process can help ease one of these burdens and by doing so, helping to give more space, more strength, more hope to face the others through the knowledge of the love and support of God carried to them and shared with them by our debt coaches and visit team.

Please pray for all our team, that they would be refreshed and strengthened, ready to help each client whatever their situation, to bring the light and love of Christ into their lives, however dark and difficult they may seem.

Please pray for all our Ely and District CAP clients, give thanks that they have reached out for help and pray that they would know the love and support of Christ in the love and support of the Ely and District CAP team, helping to enrich their lives and give them strength to face whatever burdens they carry.

And please pray for those who are without hope, who do not know where to turn, who feel rejected and excluded. Pray that they would know that Christ sits beside them and loves them, that they would be enabled to ask for and accept the help that they need.
