It is great to see our Ely and District CAP debt centre growing and increasing the ways that we can help people living in poverty and debt in our communities by investing in Money Coaching, Income Maximisation and our community links alongside the core service of the journey out of debt. It can feel a challenge to do more, to grow a service or our own generosity to others. It can feel easy to make excuses - there is not enough money, time, people, resources - but God is generous and by combining the gifts that we all have we can make a huge difference!
2 Corinthians 9: 8 - 11 (MSG)
8-11 God can pour on the blessings in astonishing ways so that you’re ready for anything and everything, more than just ready to do what needs to be done. As one psalmist puts it,
He throws caution to the winds,
giving to the needy in reckless abandon.
His right-living, right-giving ways
never run out, never wear out.
This most generous God who gives seed to the farmer that becomes bread for your meals is more than extravagant with you. He gives you something you can then give away, which grows into full-formed lives, robust in God, wealthy in every way, so that you can be generous in every way, producing with us great praise to God.
God's love and amazing blessing never runs out, His abundance and generosity is extravagant and unceasing, and this is a gift, a love, that can and should be shared and passed on. He fully equips us with both the material and spiritual gifts, skills and resources to be able to do this.
Prayer
Please pray for all the ways in which Ely and District CAP is reaching out to those struggling with poverty and debt in our community:
Pray for John and Pat and our visit team as they help out clients with their journeys out of debt, pray for all the lives and situations that they touch and that the love of God that they bring into our clients lives can make a life change alongside the relief from the burden of debt.
Pray of the team putting together the Income Maximisation process, that this can be a resource for those struggling on low incomes to make the most of what they are entitled to.
Pray for Fiona our Community Links Coordinator as she builds relationships with other orgnisations, charities and individuals who can support our clients with their wider problems alongside and along with the support of Ely and District CAP.
Give thanks for all the skills, talents, gifts, knowledge, financial support, prayer support that help make up Ely and District CAP, that together these gifts from God can make a difference in our community.
Pray for the Money Coaching team as they prepare for the next course starting in March, pray for all those in our community struggling with finances, that this may be the help and support that they are looking for.
