God's Gift of Grace

It is great to start this week with good news!  We are pleased to announce that Fiona Doughton will be joining the Ely and District CAP team as a Community Links Coordinator! John says: “ I am so pleased to welcome Fiona to the team. Fiona has been working with us as a visitor for some months and her enthusiasm and professionalism will go a long way in strengthening our centre in this role which we have been seeking to fill for some time. I am thrilled to look forward to a new chapter for our centre as we work on several new projects together”.

When we turn on the news we see a lot of suffering and it can be hard to see the brokenness of the world and not feel downhearted. But we just need to open our eyes to see the beauty of God's creation, to find the good news stories, to see the colours of autumn and hear the call of the geese, to share a smile with a stranger or spend time with a friend in need. Maybe we can't make a difference to the struggles we see on the news, but we can make a difference, help build the Kingdom in our communities, if we live as Jesus has taught us. Even the smallest action can make a huge difference when we live our lives in the knowledge of His gift of grace and share in the life of the Spirit.

1 Peter 3: 13 - 18 (NIV)

13 Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good? 14 But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. “Do not fear their threats; do not be frightened.” 15 But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, 16 keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander. 17 For it is better, if it is God’s will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil. 18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit.

Jesus suffered on the cross, carrying the weight of the sins of the world so that we can live with God and He in us. This is a gift of grace freely given, without cost. We don't have to live our lives by His grace because it is freely given, but we should want to. We should use the gifts God has given us in His service, to help others know His gift of grace and to help build His Kingdom.

Prayer

Please pray for Fiona as she joins the team, give thanks for the skills and enthusiasm that Fiona brings to the team and that the Ely and District CAP debt centre will continue to grow and flourish through the work of all the team members sharing and supporting each other and our clients with the knowledge of the love of God and His gift of grace.

Please pray for John and Pat our debt coaches and for the visit team who support them, give thanks for the faith and love that they carry with them into the lives of all our Ely and District CAP clients, that in their lives and actions others can come to know the grace and love of God in their lives.

Please pray for all our clients, especially for those facing difficult decisions to help them onwards on their journey out of debt. Pray for strength to face these decisions and for the love and support of the CAP team to help them on the journey.

Please pray for the continuing work to implement income maximisation for Ely and District CAP clients, that this will help alongside the journey out of debt to create a more stable financial future and combat negative incomes.
