Cast all Your Anxiety on Him

For many of our Ely and District CAP clients, the burden of debt can be a heavy weight of worry and stress, something that may be hidden from loved ones or even tried to hide from themselves. Realising that help is needed and reaching out and asking for help can be a big step, but is a big step forward.

Psalm 32: 1 - 2 (NIV)

1 Blessed is the one

whose transgressions are forgiven,

whose sins are covered.

2 Blessed is the one

whose sin the Lord does not count against them

and in whose spirit is no deceit.

Guilt, real or perceived, can be a heavy and debilitating burden, something that can come to define us, or that we try to suppress and hide from ourselves and others. Worry and anxiety about the situations that we find ourselves in can prevent us from thinking about anything else, can blind us to a way forward, becoming a shield that we can't see past to see either the snares of the devil or the work of God in our lives.

Psalm 32: 3 - 4 (NIV)

3 When I kept silent,

my bones wasted away

through my groaning all day long.

4 For day and night

your hand was heavy on me;

my strength was sapped

as in the heat of summer.

But we can give these fears and guilt to God and receive the blessing of His grace, Blessedness being wholeness and completeness of a self closer to God.

Psalm 32: 5 (NIV)

5 Then I acknowledged my sin to you

and did not cover up my iniquity.

I said, “I will confess

my transgressions to the Lord.”

And you forgave

the guilt of my sin.

God cares for us and by humbling ourselves and asking for help we can cast all our anxieties upon Him. Jesus suffered for us and takes our sufferings upon Himself to make us strong and firm by His grace. Jesus died once and for all for the forgiveness of sins, but repentance and forgiveness is not a one-off event but an ongoing relationship with God for all of our lives.

1 Peter 5: 6 - 11 (NIV)

6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 9 Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.

10 And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. 11 To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen.

Please pray for all our Ely and District CAP clients, especially those who have struggled to make that first step to invite the team into their life and situation or who delay the first visit due to their anxiety. Pray that they would have the strength to go through with those first steps and start a journey that can make a big difference

Pray for our debt coaches and visit team, for the love and support that they bring and especially for the seed of knowledge that there is someone who can provide support and forgiveness for the journey out of debt and beyond.

Pray for the new Money Coaching course starting in November, that this will be a chance for those who are feeling financial pressure in our community to learn the skills and knowledge to better manage their finances.
