On every client visit, our Ely and District CAP debt coaches and visit team come alongside people who are going through hard times, and sharing and supporting through hard times is central to how our lives can reflect God's love.
2 Corinthians 1: 3 - 7 (MSG)
3-5 All praise to the God and Father of our Master, Jesus the Messiah! Father of all mercy! God of all healing counsel! He comes alongside us when we go through hard times, and before you know it, he brings us alongside someone else who is going through hard times so that we can be there for that person just as God was there for us. We have plenty of hard times that come from following the Messiah, but no more so than the good times of his healing comfort—we get a full measure of that, too.
6-7 When we suffer for Jesus, it works out for your healing and salvation. If we are treated well, given a helping hand and encouraging word, that also works to your benefit, spurring you on, face forward, unflinching. Your hard times are also our hard times. When we see that you’re just as willing to endure the hard times as to enjoy the good times, we know you’re going to make it, no doubt about it.
Being a Christian does not mean that there are no hard times, but the knowledge of God's love in the bad times as well as the good enables us to come alongside and support with that love those who are going through their own hard times. The hard times help us know God's love and support in action and spur us on to share that with others, and helps make enjoying the good times all the richer. In Jesus' love we know that we are going to make it, and we don't have to do it alone but with God's love and support and with each others love and support inspired by God's love alongside us every step of the way.
Prayer
Please pray especially for S and her family. S is working with CAP and is likely to need a bankruptcy. She lives with her parents who have to deal with the bailiffs knocking on their door and have lost a court case as they were acting as guarantors. Because of this, they are falling into debt themselves and face losing their home. Debt has had huge consequences for the whole family but please give thanks for the love and support within their family unit that remains strong despite all these difficulties, and please pray that the parents will reach out to CAP for the help that they need now.
Please pray for the H family and the impact that the difficult decisions they are facing are having on mental health. The fear of losing their pension is making facing their situation difficult, please pray for good advice and for strength for them to be able to listen to this advice despite their fears.
