This Thursday is Ascension Day and the start of the 'Thy Kingdom Come' Ecumenical Global Wave of Prayer from Ascension Day, 29th May to Pentecost, 8th June. This year is also the 10th anniversary of the movement which unites more than a million Christians in prayer in nearly 90% of countries worldwide and across 85 different denominations and traditions - all united to pray 'Thy Kingdom Come' so that friends, families, neighbours and colleagues may come to know Jesus in their lives.
It can be hard to introduce Jesus to those who can't see Him in their lives - for those struggling with poverty and debt, it can be hard to see beyond their own suffering or to let others into their times of hardship. But in Jesus, God's love is made visible, a loving presence freely available to all, a light for even the darkest times.
Hebrews 11: 1 - 2 (MSG):
11 1-2 The fundamental fact of existence is that this trust in God, this faith, is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living. It’s our handle on what we can’t see.
24-28 By faith, Moses, when grown, refused the privileges of the Egyptian royal house. He chose a hard life with God’s people rather than an opportunistic soft life of sin with the oppressors. He valued suffering in the Messiah’s camp far greater than Egyptian wealth because he was looking ahead, anticipating the payoff. By an act of faith, he turned his heel on Egypt, indifferent to the king’s blind rage. He had his eye on the One no eye can see, and kept right on going.
Putting your faith in God can seem like a leap in the dark, keeping your eye on the One no eye can see, but through faith in Christ, anticipating the payoff, the invisible is made visible. By putting our faith in Jesus, we can begin to see His work in our lives and in the lives of others - we may not see the results of sharing the love of Jesus with our debt clients, but we know that He is working in their lives. God's fruits are nurtured, maybe not immediately visible but growing and ripening under God's care.
Faith is the firm foundation that makes life worth living and is something to celebrate and share with all who we meet, it is a strength and refuge for times of trouble and a guiding light even in the darkest times. So don't be afraid to share that love with those who you meet, to pray 'Thy Kingdom Come' for our Ely and District CAP clients - for even when we don't see it, God is working.

Prayer
Please pray for all our Ely and District CAP Clients, that they would have the strength they need to be able to put their trust and situations into the care of the CAP Debt Help team, praying especially for those who are afraid to open their doors to the team - pray that they would hear the message of love that the debt coaches and befrienders bring with them and that it would help open the doors to a knowledge of the love of Jesus in their lives.
Please pray especially for five more clients debt free in the last few weeks, making 10 so far this year! Please pray that freedom from debt will be a cause for celebration for them, especially for those struggling with budgeting, that they would have the love, support and strength to continue rebuilding their lives in debt freedom.
Please pray for our debt coaches, John and Pat, and for the befrienders, for the love and care and the knowledge of Christ's presence that they bring into our clients homes, for the strength to face different situations and the patience to care for all who they meet.
Please pray that we would all have the strength of faith to be able to share it with all those who we meet, to be able to pray 'Thy Kingdom Come' for the other and to live in the knowledge that we stand on the firm foundation that makes life worth living.
